My friend Mary sent me this link to a funny "Frasier" episode. The James Bond tribute on the Oscars is what brought this clip to mind. Enjoy!

Daniel Craig as Bond
I read the book The Carrie Diaries a few years ago when it came out. It is a prequel to Sex and the City. I was a BIG fan of "Sex & the City" on TV so I had to read this one!
There is now a TV series based on this book on the CW network. I watched the pilot the other day and enjoyed it.
By the way, I was going to post a review of the Golden Globes but just have not had time. I thought it was very entertaining this year.
Just a quick post to say happy birthday to one of my favorite actors. Tony Shalhoub, who is best known for playing Adrian Monk on the USA series Monk, is 59 today. I must be one of his biggest fans! Hope he had a special birthday today and many more to come! I have the entire series on DVD and was planning to watch an episode today but didn't get to it yet. It's such a wonderful show!
I still haven't gotten over the fact that Mad Men failed to win a single Emmy this year! They were nominated for 17 Emmys and failed to take home even one!! As I have noted in previous posts, Mad Men has received the Emmy for Best Drama for the past four years in a row which was a record. But this year the Showtime drama Homeland starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis took home the top drama prize. Danes and Lewis also won best actor and actress in a drama. Jon Hamm had to leave empty handed again - how disappointing. Claire Danes was quoted as saying, “We didn’t make our show just to undermine them. “I don’t think anybody expected to be recognized this way right off the bat. But it feels pretty nice."
Damian Lewis gave a very gracious acceptance speech and since I haven't seen Homeland yet I really can't say he didn't deserve to win. But today I picked up the series on DVD from the library so I will soon find out what all the fuss is about. I'll post my opinion of the show soon.
By the way, AMC will rerun the fifth season of Mad Men beginning this Sunday, Sept. 30th. Check your local listings for the time and you can decide for yourself whether the show deserved to be snubbed this year at the Emmys.
Here is some more news from the Mad Men blog -

As unbelievable as it may seem, Jon Hamm has yet to receive the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series despite being nominated 5 times. Tune in on September 23rd to see if he wins this year. In the meantime, check out his competition in this article -

I've seen all the other nominated actors except for Damian Lewis in Homeland. I do have the DVDs of Homeland on request at the library though and I hear it's good. But Jon Hamm did such excellent work on Mad Men this year (as always) that I really think he deserves to win for once. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him!
Jon Hamm as Don Draper
As you know I am a huge Seinfeld fan (see earlier posts) so whenever I hear that Jerry will be making an appearance somewhere I make a note of it. I just read today that he will guest star on the FX show Louis starring the comedian Louis CK. I am not a regular viewer of this show although I have seen it a few times. The following article doesn't say when Seinfeld will appear but the show begins it's third season on June 28th -

One of the shows that my husband and I never miss is The Closer on TNT starring Kyra Sedgwick. This is the seventh and last season and the final six episodes begin on Monday, July 9th. Check out their website for details -

As Brenda would say, "Thank yew!"
Hope everyone was able to watch the two hour season 5 premiere of Mad Men last Sunday night. I thought it was great!! Here are some videos from AMC's webpage -

You might want to watch these videos after you've seen the episodes in case you are worried about spoilers. You can watch the entire premiere episode online from the AMC website for a limited time.
The video about the costumes is interesting - the show has a wonderful costume designer named Janie Bryant.
Hopefully, you've been enjoying the wonderful PBS series Downton Abbey, currently in the middle of the second season. You know you've made it big when Saturday Night Life does a spoof of it. Check this out:

By the way, season one is on DVD already. Also, some casting news - Shirley MacLaine will join the cast in the third season as Lady Cora's American mother.
Robert Sean Leonard says he's leaving House at the end of this season, except not really: He also admits that he "assumes" he'll be back if everyone's contract shakes out, but that's not a done deal just yet. "There’s also no deal for House next year because Comcast bought NBC Universal and no one has a deal," he says. He really misses New Jersey and hanging out with his family, so how might a studio entice the back-on-Broadway actor (currently in Born Yesterday) to stick around? "I. Love. Money. Very, very much ... I would love to make more money. Money is nice." Money it is, then.
