I still haven't gotten over the fact that Mad Men failed to win a single Emmy this year! They were nominated for 17 Emmys and failed to take home even one!! As I have noted in previous posts, Mad Men has received the Emmy for Best Drama for the past four years in a row which was a record. But this year the Showtime drama Homeland starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis took home the top drama prize. Danes and Lewis also won best actor and actress in a drama. Jon Hamm had to leave empty handed again - how disappointing. Claire Danes was quoted as saying, “We didn’t make our show just to undermine them. “I don’t think anybody expected to be recognized this way right off the bat. But it feels pretty nice."
Damian Lewis gave a very gracious acceptance speech and since I haven't seen Homeland yet I really can't say he didn't deserve to win. But today I picked up the series on DVD from the library so I will soon find out what all the fuss is about. I'll post my opinion of the show soon.
By the way, AMC will rerun the fifth season of Mad Men beginning this Sunday, Sept. 30th. Check your local listings for the time and you can decide for yourself whether the show deserved to be snubbed this year at the Emmys.

Jackson and I have been watching Homeland on DVD. I have to admit that it is an excellent, well-acted, compelling show. It's very different from Mad Men, of course, but I can see why it won for Best Drama this year. Damian Lewis and Claire Danes are both excellent. We still have the last two episodes to watch.
